Previously untouched by mass tourism due to its remoteness, Koh Lipe has since unfortunately taken the path of becoming yet another tourist haven. The island is not very steep and has the advantage of fine sandy beaches and magnificent turquoise waters. Koh Lipe and the surrounding archipelago are still very attractive, especially for diving and snorkeling aficionados. The whole area is part of the Tarutao National Marine Park, and you'll need to pay the park entrance fee to gain access. Koh Lipe means "paper island", because of its flatness compared to the surrounding mountainous islands.
