This island is the largest and least touristy of all, although a few accommodation options exist on Haad Lang Kao beach, on the west coast. With a population of around 3,500, the island is mainly inhabited by Muslim fishing communities. Koh Libong also boasts small mountains and mangrove swamps, making it home to many varieties of endemic and migratory birds. The latter gather mainly in winter. A longtail boat trip to will also reveal a protected species: dugongs, imposing marine mammals that resemble manatees.
