You're at the crossroads of the famous Golden Triangle. Here, your gaze will take in Laos, Myanmar and Thailand, separated by the confluence of the Mekong and Ruak rivers. Of course, you can't help but be reminded of the stories of opium trafficking in the region in the last century! Near the point where the three borders meet, a huge golden seated Buddha and an elephant monument dominate the city. Its full name is Phra Chiang Saen Si Phaendin, and it was built by a Sino-Thai foundation. A few small shops can be found on the opposite side of the street.
