Mae Suai is a small town located 50 km southwest of Chiang Rai, on the RN 118 which joins Chiang Mai. The surroundings are unjustly forgotten by tourists, and yet the landscapes are splendid. Moreover, the Lisu, Akha, Karen and Lahu villages (still authentic because they are rarely visited) offer the traveller a much more natural welcome than others, which are too frequented by Western trekkers.
