This superb park was created in 1937 and covers 412,000 hectares. Covered with eternal snow, the Lanín volcano (3,776 m) is irrevocably the star of the park even if the incredible species of trees that shelter the forests also have powerful attractions! The park's forest, known as "Valdivian", contains unique specimens of the coniferous and fagaceous groups. There are lengas (beeches), Roble Pellín (up to 50 metres high), pehuéns (araucaria araucana) also known as "monkey despair": because of its thorny leaves, monkeys (although absent in this part of the world!) cannot climb here. One will observe pudús (deer), vizcachas... pumas are more shy!
