Population approx. 9,100. The Drava makes a loop to the south of the town before winding its way towards Maribor. Meža and Mislinja flow into it. All that remains of Dravograd castle is a section of wall. Historically a border town, it has long been a cradle of Protestantism. In the 19th century, it turned a corner, becoming a major road and rail junction in Central Europe. Today, the town's tourist attractions are limited to a few churches, and the accommodation on offer is still quite limited. Nonetheless, the town remains an important industrial and economic center in the region, with a focus on exports.
