A paradise for scuba diving and land-based activities, Camiguin, "the island of seven volcanoes", is a small island that the locals also call " Come Again ", simply because anyone who has been there has only one desire: to return. The friendly, smiling locals are always ready to help foreign visitors. Everywhere, children call out to visitors " Hi, friend! If you mention the name Camiguin to a Filipino, he'll speak without hesitation of the lanzones. Indeed, the island is famous for having the sweetest lanzones in the whole archipelago. The lanzones festival takes place every year at the same time as the harvest, in the third week of October. During the two-day festival, you can join the locals in endlessly tasting this absolutely delicious fruit, somewhat similar to lychee.Shaped like a pear, Camiguin takes its name from a tree in the ebony family, the kamagong, which was used by the Manobos. It is located in the Bohol Sea, some 54 km southwest of Bohol's Chocolate Hills and 90 km north of Cagayan de Oro airport. It is also 10 km north of Misamis Oriental. Small - just 238 km2 in area and 90 km in circumference - and although its 56 km of road can be covered in a day, Camiguin is well worth a few days' visit.
