This unattractive city (to say the least), 45 km from Puno, is, with its 276,110 inhabitants, the most important of the department due to its vocation as an air transport hub (it is here that we find the only airport of the region) and its industrial and commercial center - it is the biggest market of Peru for alpaca. Juliaca is sad and grey, especially when it rains or snows. Crime is higher here than in Puno. In short, we land or take off, but we don't linger there. The journey from Juliaca to Puno is done by taxi via the hotel you have booked or an agency, it will take you about 45 minutes to 1 hour.
