18 km from Puno, on the lake, Chucuito huddles around its church. The village has a treasure: the Inka Uyo temple, dedicated to fertility. In the small space of its walls, the sanctuary hosts phallic sculptures of a striking realism. Women from the province continue to visit in the hope that their wish to have a child will be fulfilled. Admission costs S/ 5. The Chucuito peninsula extends its arm over the waters of the Titicaca and faces the Capachica peninsula (Llachon). It also offers similar rural tourism experiences, a little more quiet and away from the crowds, like in the community of Luquina Chico.
