Bradenton, located just at the opening of Tampa Bay between Saint Petersburg and Sarasota, was discovered by the conquistador Hernando De Soto in 1539. However, the city's name comes from Joseph Braden, whose fort served as a refuge for early emigrants during Indian attacks. Nowadays, Bradenton is a quiet little marina with a preserved charm, reminiscent of the Florida of yesteryear. Many tennis players have lived here, such as Mary Pierce and Maria Sharapova, as there is a school for young tennis talents, which has included André Agassi and Monica Seles as students. The beaches in the Brandenton area are beautiful.
