Now back to Wellsford. Although it is the meeting point of the two main lanes of this district, this small town of 1 700 inhabitants has no special interest. Its vocation is agricultural, and tourism does not concern it. Caught between these high tourist places, the Hibiscus Coast and Whangarei in the north, it has not been able to develop. Simply take the SH 1 towards the north or follow the East coast by small, unpaved and poor roads.
