The city was founded in 280 B.C. Thanks to its intense commercial activity that began in antiquity, Licata has an interesting heritage. Note the impressive decoration of the church of Santa Maria la Nuova (16th century), the largest in the city. The municipal palace (early 20th century, beautiful collection of paintings) and especially the 17th century Sant'Angelo castle, dominating the town. Among the beaches of the area, that of Falconara on the road to Gela. Its 14th century castle is surrounded by a beautiful garden with a view of the sea.
