Tanah Rata is the epicenter of the Cameron Highlands, with its tea and strawberry plantations. People come here for the rolling hills stretching to infinity, and also to enjoy the cool climate. Temperatures rarely exceed 25°C and humidity is much more reasonable than on the plains. The village must have been quite pleasant before the developers got hold of it. Tanah Rata has lost some of its colonial charm since the massive construction boom. The colonial dwellings remain, however, and help the town retain its British flair. What's more, it's a great starting point for walks. Tanah Rata is easy to find your way around, with a main street featuring shops and restaurants. It's also the most convenient place to stay, as it's harder to get around by local transport from Brinchang.
