La Arena is famous for its handmade pottery with colorful pre-Columbian designs, including tinajas, traditional jugs that keep water cool. They are displayed in the stalls along the road that crosses the village. The dexterity of the craftsmen is famous, it is indeed quite an art to handle a foot lathe while shaping the earth at the same time! La Arena is also known for its breads baked in large wood ovens, but the French will probably not be convinced by their taste... The tourist office (CEFATI, main road, open weekdays from 8am to 4pm), presents the habitat and costumes of the region.
