1,200 hectares of wetland of great importance. It has been fished for 8,000 years, and is still fished today with nets or lines. The macana is a local fish similar to the eel. The marshes are also the territory of caimans and turtles, as well as migratory birds from North America, which frequent the area between December and April. A trail and a viewpoint allow you to appreciate the extent of the marshes, with beautiful shots to be taken as storms approach! The Cenegón del Mangle Wildlife Refuge, a few kilometers further east, at the mouth of the Río Santa María, also offers beautiful mangrove landscapes.
