Aguadulce is a small town of 8,000 inhabitants nicknamed "the land of salt and sugar". While the sugar refineries continue to operate, foreign competition has led to the closure of most of the salt works. The latter are located on the road leading to the wild beaches of Parita Bay. An ideal environment for shrimp and other seafood. Further on, continuing towards the fishing village of El Salao, south-east of Aguadulce, you'll find a handful of typical seafood restaurants, much appreciated by the locals who frequent them at weekends. Quality and quantity are on the menu, but don't forget your mosquito repellent, especially in the evening! Aguadulce was officially founded on October 19, 1848. A date celebrated with fervor every year: concerts, traditional dances, parades... If you like a festive atmosphere, the carnival and St. John's Day celebrations on June 24 are also very lively.
