In this welcoming village on the road between La Villa de Los Santos (20 minutes away) and Las Tablas (10 minutes away), the Guarareños gather to converse under the porch that runs all around the welcoming traditional tile-roofed houses. But every year in September, as the festival of La Mejorana approaches, a sudden fervor takes hold of the inhabitants who dress in their most majestic pollera or the most beautiful pintao. People come from all over the country to attend the folkloric events and especially the parade of floats on the last day. And the mejorana? It is a small guitar with a very special sound!
