Aillon was once a parish and commune of the duchy of Savoy, then of the department of Savoy. In 1863, the commune was suppressed, giving birth to two new communes: Aillon-le-Vieux and Aillon-le-Jeune, located in the Bauges massif. This Savoyard massif is located between the three gateway cities of Chambéry, Annecy and Albertville. Aillon-le-Jeune is composed of a village center with the town hall, the church and the school, surrounded by several hamlets. La Manse and la Correrie constitute the resort Aillons-Margériaz 1000 on the side of the mount Pelat. As for the Aillons-Margériaz 1400 station, it is located on the slopes of Mount Margériaz.
