Former historical hotel-god to visit in Villefranche-sur-Saône, housing a chapel with a real masterpiece.
The Destination Beaujolais tourist office is located in this superb historic building. Founded in the middle of the 17th century, generously endowed and maintained afterwards, the Hôtel-Dieu remained the town's hospital until 1982. Its apothecary was transferred to the new hospital of Gleizé. Its chapel conceals a ceiling on canvas painted at the end of the 17th century, a true masterpiece. One can admire the angels in the heavenly court, the prophets, the evangelists and the Fathers of the Church, as well as the cardinal virtues.
