MONTBLOY CASTLE
This castle overlooking the old town of Sain-Bel and the valley of the Brévenne retains the remains of the 12th century wall.
Overlooking the old town of Saint-Bel and the Brévenne valley, this defensive castle of the Benedictine abbey of Savigny became the residence of the abbots of Albon in the 15th century. Sold as a national asset during the French Revolution, Montbloy retains vestiges of the 12th-century wall, the chapel with its frescoes by Stella and the 15th-century buildings. Only the exterior is open to the public. Every year, during Heritage Days, the château hosts medieval events open to the public.
