A museum dedicated to the life and inventions of the Lumière brothers, with a large section devoted to cinema, a magical place in Lyon.

The Musée Lumière is housed in the Villa Lumière - a "château" built by Antoine Lumière - on the very site where cinema was born. The Hangar, just opposite, was the setting for the very first film in history, shot by Louis Lumière in 1895. In addition to the famous^{No. 1}camera, you'll marvel at a relief zoetrope that shows how still images are transformed into animation. A unique site to rediscover. You can also visit the Librairie du Premier-Film, France's largest cinema bookshop, and the Café Lumière.

Opening time and information on LIGHT MUSEUM

Closed on January 1st, May 1st and December 25th. Open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10 am to 6:30 pm. Annual closures: December 25, January 1 and May 1. Exceptional opening on all public holidays, including holiday Mondays. Free for children under 7 years old. Adults : 8 € (reduced : 7 €). Group (7 persons) : 6,50 € (large families also). Audioguides or guided tours (according to calendar) +3 €.

La collection d'objets autour du cinéma est remarquable, on a même envie de voir plus! La maison lumière est très belle, mais l'espace exposition reste un peu petit.

Beginning of cinema traced in various rooms in the residence of the Lumière brothers, a visit to the past extracts of films, a pleasant way to spend the afternoon.

Passing through Lyon, stop in this small museum which is worth the detour.
The visit is interesting around the succession of rooms, recommended for large and small!

Lyon for 6 months, I have been museum Light a few days, and I must say that I was not disappointed. Visit 21 rooms very complete and explained well even without audioguide. Activities present and interesting, a lot of objects from impressive collections.
Especially as the museum does not stop the creation of the cinema by the lumière brothers, but all their life, and I must say that their biography is surprising very diverse inventions.

A visit to 2:00 terminal which is one hour rallongeable watching the free film inside (have time, unfortunately), just 6€ in the price. Nothing to say
