En la comparación con su imponente vecino, el anfiteatro, el Odeón pierde, pero también gana por el entorno, que es magnífico. Muy bien conservado y de proporciones más agradables que las del colosal teatro, no debe dejar de visitarse.

If you're visiting the Fourvière Cathedral in Lyon, I highly recommend taking a short 5-minute walk to the Odéon de Lyon. One of the best parts about this ancient Roman theatre is that you don’t need to buy a ticket to explore it. Also, it is a serene place where you can take in the beauty of the ancient architecture and imagine what life was like in Roman times.

It’s free to explore the place! A good views standing from the ruin and imagine the days of the Romans. Read that the place was only dug up rather recently. I am no history buff; but I felt a part of history being here.

Situés à mi-pente sur la colline de Fourvière, ces deux monuments romains sont incontournables, d'autant plus qu'on a construit juste à côté un superbe musée gallo-romain (rebaptisé Lugdunum) qui complète cette visite, ne le ratez surtout pas !.
Le théâtre pouvait contenir jusqu'à 11'000 personnes et il est en suffisamment bon état pour continuer à servir de lieu de spectacles en saison lors des " Nuits de Fourvière " ; plus petit, l'Odéon (3'000 places) servait aux spectacles musicaux.
L'ensemble du site, traversé par une voie romaine est impressionnant et dégage une " atmosphère antique " envoûtante.
