See how the silk industry started and evolved in Lyon. It's had an amazing contribution to fashion both in France and the world. It's a relatively small museum. 30-45 mins is all you need. You can buy your tickets at the door. Probably not the best place for smaller kids as it isn't really interactive and the space isn't huge.

The Musée Soieries Brochier is a unique museum in Lyon that focuses on the region's rich history of silk production, which has been a significant industry in the area for centuries. Housed in a former silk workshop, the museum offers visitors an engaging look at the art and craft of silk weaving, showcasing the intricate techniques and the historical significance of silk in Lyon's economy and culture.

The exhibits include antique looms, silk samples, and informative displays about the various processes involved in silk production, from the cultivation of silkworms to the final weaving of beautiful fabrics. Visitors can learn about the historical context of the silk industry and its impact on local society.

Additionally, the Boutique du Grand Hôtel-Dieu, located nearby, features a selection of high-quality silk products and other artisanal goods inspired by the rich traditions of Lyon. This boutique is a great place to find unique souvenirs and gifts, reflecting the craftsmanship that the city is known for.

Together, the Musée Soieries Brochier and the Boutique du Grand Hôtel-Dieu offer a wonderful opportunity to explore Lyon's silk heritage and take home a piece of its elegant craftsmanship. If you're in the area, both spots are definitely worth a visit!

So overrated. The museum is a scam it's just 40 square meter and nothing special

A cool museum which is free (if you have the Lyon city pass). Its a small exhibit showcasing their history of silk manufacturing history. Perhaps, it will indulge people who are into historical development of fashion.

Interesting mini museum with info on English, history of the company and sister comp at that design high tech fabric eg used in Concorde. Some fab couture dresses

A fascinating account of the weaving industry in Lyon spanning several generations of the same family. This well-organised boutique museum showcases their considerable technical talent and business acumen from traditional weaving, to suppliers to high fashion houses brands, to weaving fibre optic threads, to creating the nose cone of the Concorde.
