Restaurant in the heart of the Grand Hôtel-Dieu offering a nice cocktail menu in Lyon.
What if the Grand Hôtel-Dieu were a doorway to other worlds? Kabestan takes us on a sensory voyage to the shores of the Mediterranean. Comfortably seated on one of the 2 terraces, gourmands savor the beauty of an unusual setting - a magnificent room around a central bar - sip a delicious house cocktail to the sound of a resident DJ, before feasting on exceptional Mediterranean cuisine. Sun-drenched platters include the must-try octopus tentacles caramelized bourguignon-style, or a low-temperature lamb shoulder confit to share, vegetarian dishes and, of course, mezze. Groups welcome.

We went for a birthday dinner and immediately was intrigued by the beautiful decor, stunning BUT the heat was on super high and the restaurant was so hot we we're all so uncomfortable and wanted to leave stat. However, there is fun music and we decided to stay. For starters the apps are a bit expensive but very tasty. We took the Hummus which was delicious but came with a half pita, pity because we ate the remainder without bread. C'mon pita is so cheap, odd that they would skimp on that but the beef focaccia bread was generous and really good. The cocktails were beautiful and well conceived with gorgeous presentation and delicious. We had the kefta meatballs, good portions and tasty and also shared the beef ribs, that was really good and good portion also. We had great service and overall enjoyed it but I was annoyed that when you get a main dish, for example 55€ for a sharing serving of ribs that you also have to purchase the side dish... No main courses come with the side, that can add up. One last thing, when I made a reservation online, I clearly indicated that it was my daughter's 18th birthday and then proceeded to message them separately also and got no response, it would have been nice to get a little sparkler or something so very disappointed by that. It's these small touches that make these restaurants stand out in a city full of options. I would not likely return sadly.
