RAMEN SHOP

Japanese restaurant
4.6/5
27 reviews
Closed - Open to 11h45

Petit Smart had not yet integrated this address, opened two years ago, into the heart of the city. If it is not the first "nouilles bar" in Lyon -we will find others in this heading "Japanese" - it surely is the most central, varying the offer of the very rich Rue du Palais-Grillet, just two steps from the very busy street of the Republic. The hotel was very close to the train station and close to the train station. Oops, we withdraw the word'quick ', because on the wall of Ramen Shop it is clear that the happy people are not the most pressed… You can confirm and enjoy a simple and efficient cuisine, which is being explained with kindness if you are not already a follower of the Ramen, its Japanese pasta served in broth and not always easy to eat with chopsticks. Ramen to chicken, mussels, the famous terryaki, but also shrimp in tempura and gyoza (ravioli). An address to vary the pleasures and eat well at the heart of the city.

LES PÂTES VIVANTES

Chinese restaurant
4/5
27 reviews
Closed - Open to 12h00

Behind the red facade of this address located in this part of Mercière Street that we prefer, far from catch-tourists, here are Les Pâtes Vivantes, an ensign that the Smart had already crossed in Paris and that he finds with pleasure in the streets of Lyon. Do you know the pizzaïolos that fly the dough? Well, let's discover the cooks who feed the pasta! Yes, fresh pasta that is stretched like ropin, pasta dance to get a unique texture, melt under the tongue and crispy under the tooth! In a decor that has the good taste to be sober, we discover a surprising spectacle. When the noodles finally arrive in our bowl, they can be tasted in several ways. In soup, beef noodles eat, in sauce or skipped accompanied by vegetables. A few specialties such as these nord façon or a beef touch the perfectly sky! Japanese cakes and fresh pineapple to land smoothly. A small map of wine and beer. Groups welcome. A Chinese address that opens up gourmands horizons.

O’SUSHI

Japanese restaurant
4.6/5
51 reviews
Closed - Open to 12h00

O'Sushi is what we love, starting with a charming welcome that leaves us unaware of these Japanese specialities, art and how to taste them. From the counter to the présentoirs of charges, through a beautiful Zen room, this place is devoid of tension. Everything is peaceful, harmonious and it is easy to forget its urban stress on the threshold of O'Sushi. To eat on-site, on high chairs, to take or to get delivered, sushi, makis and sashimis are of impeccable freshness, made in the morning, while the miso soup still heats up in the pot… Impeccable hygiene for tasty products that are accommodated with the sauces according to the advice of a wise man. Ready-made trays and individual portions are a great way to receive friends during a secluded meal. To discover, sweet sushi and various forms of tea, including a delicious roasted green tea. Don't miss, the shop corner where Japanese products are found to make its own sushi.

MEIJI ERA

Japanese restaurant €€
4.5/5
26 reviews
Closed - Open to 11h30

By taking on board what the French consumer expects from the decor of an Asian brand, Meiji Era comes first to us. In the very central Thomassin street, this Japanese restaurant offers the kitchen in a decor that could be that of a chic European brewery with this presence underlined of the black, these chesterfield benches, all without a special sign related to Asia. In short, it is apparently very marketé to give a modern picture of Japan. More traditional, Japanese cuisine offers us its essential sushi, which is pretty successful for our taste, rolls or tatakis. Des menus, already seen, to the Chirashi menus, less seen, Japan does not offer here its best culinary face and, past the course of discovery and decorative suprise, not sure that Meiji Era will seduce us. When Japan falls through a "conceptual" restoration, as often happens in Lyon, the result is not really Smart.

MRS WYNN

Vietnamese restaurant €€
4.2/5
26 reviews
Closed - Open to 12h00

Can Asian rhyme with chic? Answer given by Mrs Wymm, alias Sylvie Huynh: yes, of course! This address in the very central and very required Rue du Palais-Grillet shows how much Asian cuisine is capable of "fusion" while preserving its traditional soul. It is always a happiness to sit in terrace in this quiet street of the city centre, but even more at Mrs Wynn where the reception shows great kindness. Service with wide opening hours to start at the afterwork (specialty of Wednesday at Mrs Wynn's) with an aperitif accompanied by Asian tapas - very wide menu with bouchées vapeur, spring rolls, sushis, chicken skewers with lemon grass or a delicious beef & chips with Thai herbs - and to finish after midnight by listening to good sound. In dining room, soothng deco rwearing red to enjoy the cuiisine of a chef, Patrick Ramsany, who has remained at the helm of Key Largo in Saint-Tropez for 17 years. Very beautiful dishes, tasty, to travel between Asian countries and to go back to France: foie gras terrine with Asian spices, Thai pepper chutney, lobster ceviche or a banh-cuon revisited with duck to get started. Coming up next, a delicious wok with prawns seasoned with garlic and black pepper, a sea bass in banana leave to be discovered with a beautiful gourmet curiosity, an astonishing Thai bouillabaisse with seafood, a Black Angus beef fillet with Thai sauce or a bo bun. Fine choice of very successful sushis. Apple ginger tarte tatin or chocolate nems and spicy caramel sauce to finish on a sweet note. A destination full of gourmet attractions.

TAKUMI

Japanese restaurant €€
4.4/5
26 reviews
Closed - Open to 12h00

The Ainay area offers the finest surprises and best culinary travels. In Rhône, just steps from Rue de la Charité, here is a novelty which takes us to the opposite, since Takumi is a genuine Japanese restaurant in "dim bar" version. Small summer terrace on the street, but especially a room which is both sober and warm. A counter with a few chairs for those in a hurry and a room in the mezzanine to relax and enjoy the kind welcome and service. Even the "novices" of ramen (Japanese pasta served in seasoned and seasoned and garnished broth) will soon become unconditional regulars of Takumi. What are the reasons? The quality of the reception and service, as we've said, but also the quality of the dishes elaborated with quality ingredients. Homemade cuisine made at the moment, full of freshness and flavours, in "bowl plate" which are both beautiful and delicious. The ramen are complete and comes in a "simple" version (pork slice, soy shoots, bamboo heart, young onion, algae), in "Tempura" version with shrimps, Chashu with eggs, Bollywood with eggs, Bollywood with curry or Vegetarian. Other dishes on the menu, chicken curry and rice or a Gyu-Don, chopped beef with onions, which are also delicious. Wonderful Tiramisu with green tea to finish and a beer or Japanese lemonade as accompaniment. A new sweet destination.

NAMASKAR

Indian restaurant €€
2.5/5
4 reviews

From the facade of Indian temple to the vast contemporary room, Namaskar does everything it can to make us travel in this environment that is ultimately unsuitable for escape. Special mention for the service that really folds in four to make us discover India's best face and traditional cuisine carried out on-site, including the tandoor, the Indian oven par excellence. Very large card and virtual obligation to be guided by the server to make its choice. Do not miss to taste the "dal makehni", the inevitable dish of Indian lentils, and to a famous naan billed 4 € for a cheese version…

PLANET SUSHI

Japanese restaurant €€
2/5
4 reviews

It was not mentioned last year, but already Planet Sushi had hit the 6 th arrondissement. It was probably thought that the sushi invasion would stop there, satisfying the needs of a chic and demanding clientele working at the Brotteaux in search of new culinary sensations. Well no! How not to react to the opening of a new address in the heart of the city, at the emblematic corner of Grenette street and rue Mercière, even though the latter has not been the guardian of the Lyon gastronomy for a long time. We will probably be treated with old "réacs", but we had to dare to offer sushi, especially of this poor quality, at this location. We talk about "culinary creation", but we are always looking for the fish in this maki! We talk about fusion food, but how do you enjoy a maki in foie gras? Planet Sushi is apparently more than 180 products to "taste", but how do you want this to be fresh when the products are presented as a ready-to-eat collection? In the area of marriage between Japanese and European cuisine, Lyon offers so much better than ignoring this address.

SUSHI WA LOUNGE

Sushi is an art that few cooks master. True, very little on Lyon and we are happy to enter the world of Sushi Wa Lounge, small frêre of an excellent Japanese restaurant, the Takeyama located on the same street. Eating at the Sushi Wa Lounge is an unforgettable experience to renew as often as possible (and as it is open every day!). Without being frightened by the word "lounge", too, in all the sauces, we discovered a splendid interior, a harmonious blend of Japanese tradition and modern touches. If the small lounge with a low table is most pleasant, you can settle near the famous treadmill where the wonders prepared by a Korean chef in sushi, maki, sashimi and other California roll. The plats soups, salads and original dishes that bring us to the land of the rising sun are also included in the plats. A quality, dépaysante and tasty address in the heart of Lyon.

DU CÔTÉ DE CHEZ XANE

Thai restaurant €€
3.1/5
7 reviews

We are not really on the side of Chez Swann, since this passage (careful, it is not a traboule) open between Quai Saint-Antoine and Rue Mercière takes us to Thailand. A totally unexpected setting for an exotic restaurant in many ways. First, because among a series of bouchons and other custom-tailored restaurants for the many tourists who pace up and down the neighbourhood, this one takes us where we do not expect to be, in Thailand. Secondly, because the restaurant occupies a more than discrete passage, more visible by the Saône-side wharf than by Rue Mercière, and that it is settled on both sides of the passage! Two dining rooms facing each other to taste a good-quality Thai cuisine, made by a traditional chef. For the reception and the service, Futé continues to claim that they are irregular and you can be received with a smile, just as you may feel really unwanted. Futé tried to eat there this year, but a person told us that the service wouldn't start before 1pm! Don't get hungry too early… and resume work at 2pm. Another weak point in the house, the desserts that are not a specialty of the destination. Original address rooted in the local landscape, but too "uncertain" to be recommended.
