The site is believed to have been occupied by the Gauls and to contain the remains of a Druidic temple and a golden calf.

This magical ridge would contain the remains of a Druidic temple, as well as a golden calf. This site would have been occupied by the Gauls who offered sacrifices to the Moon, one of their goddesses. It is not surprising to hear that if you lift the clods of grass, you will see jewels and coins shining, proof of the many offerings made to the gods. It is even said that the ground is black because of all the sacrifices that have been made there.
