Historic capital of the Trièves, Mens is a small town whose medieval architecture has been very well preserved. The church of the Assumption is a true masterpiece of early Romanesque art (12th century), modernized in the 19th century by the addition of windows and a transept. Another local historical monument, the Café des Arts, is also worth a visit. The town hall was completely renovated in 1841. Mens has now become the Alpine capital of ecotourism, with a strong awareness of the need to preserve the environment, particularly through organic farming methods.
