Located on the Napoleon road, this small regional capital of the Matheysin plateau has a little more than 5,000 inhabitants. The Ecrins National Park is not far away, and many local monuments are worth a visit: the Beaumont castle (exterior only), the Belfry (a tower with an old clock), the market hall (first built in 1309 and last rebuilt in the 19th century), Father Eymard's chapel (dated from the 11th century, when he was canonized in 1962)... Plus, of course, the Matheysin Museum and the La Mure railway.
