Read moreThe asphalt road linking the Col de Porte and the Charmanson mountain pasture is covered in snow in winter. It is then closed to motorists and becomes a playground for winter sports enthusiasts. A great place for cross-country skiing or ski touring, you can reach the first houses on the alpage in 50 minutes. The return journey is effortless: downhill only. If you've chosen to do this itinerary on snowshoes, the walk continues up to the summit of Charmanson, with a further 1-hour ascent.
