Between the Jura mountains and the Plastic Valley, Izernore is a town rich in preserved nature and an important archaeological heritage. Indeed, under the Roman occupation, the town was a more important centre than Bourg-en-Bresse on a road leading from Lyon to Germania. In the museum and on the archaeological site, you can see imposing vestiges of this period, including the monumental columns of a Gallo-Roman temple that has disappeared. More recently, it is the plastics industry that has allowed the development of Izernore. It is a very dynamic city, particularly pleasant to live with many cultural and leisure associations.
