Since 2017, Charroux has the label "Petite cité de caractère". There is of course the Saint-Sauveur abbey. Located on the roads to Santiago de Compostela, this Benedictine abbey was a major centre of medieval Christianity in Carolingian Europe. Rich but also famous thanks to its holy relics, the abbey welcomed every year between 20 and 30 000 pilgrims. Today, you can admire the impressive Lantern Tower, as well as the lapidary museum. The village has an exceptional medieval building: half-timbered houses, market halls, gate of the Chaplaincy, castles and many cellars in the surroundings. Guided tours are organized.
