This town was the homeland of illustrious people, such as Antoine Augustin de Parmentier (1737-1813), who introduced the potato into our plates. Formerly reserved for pig feed, the potato put an end to years of famine. A statue is dedicated to him in the town centre. On a cultural level, the city has a cinema called Hollywood Avenue, which offers films at unbeatable prices (the seat is €5) in an old-fashioned setting.
