You are here in the country of Sillé. This municipality of the neighboring Sarthe-le-Guillaume, in the south, has 800 inhabitants and is also named Rouez-en-Champagne, by shell but without official legitimacy. In 1975, geologists discovered a sacred filon in this territory: Europe's largest polymetallic sulfide cluster, all of which is rich in iron, copper, lead and zinc, and even silver and gold. These precious metals are concentrated in the top of the deposit called "iron hat".Pierre-Christian Guiollard's book tells us the story of the discovery of this deposit, its geological origins and the exploitation of its "iron hat" back in 1989. Over 2 tons of gold and 7 tons of silver were extracted in four years from the basement of Rouez-en-Champagne. Another filth is its abbey where prestige receptions take place.
