Influential in medieval times, Rabastens was placed under the protection of the Counts of Toulouse before entering the royal fold. This support led the village to prosperity, as the townhouses and alleys in the centre of the town still testify. Dressed in pink bricks, the city has ramparts damaged by the wars of religion and its guides tell its history with passion. The village also takes great pride in its crafts and archaeological finds, which can be seen in the Notre-Dame-du-Bourg church, the Saint-Pierre-de-Bracou chapel and the Saint-Waast chapel.
