The city has a rich industrial past thanks to copper mining. It was here that black powder was first experimented with. Later, the Moselle valley and Le Thillot embarked on the textile adventure. Close to a number of winter sports resorts, the town is well-equipped for both tourism and sport. The region is beautiful, and you'll enjoy lovely views from the Notre-Dame-des-Neiges or Tête du Drumont sites. For hiking enthusiasts, climb up to the Ballon d'Alsace, to the Col des Croix at 738 meters, or cross the Chaillon forest on a signposted trail.
