During the French Revolution, Isches was the administrative center of the canton. A glorious past symbolized by numerous vestiges. In the past, the village was home to 3 châteaux: the now-defunct Choiseul and Chauvirey châteaux, and the Château d'Harcourt, the remains of which you can see for yourself. One might imagine that it was an enclosure flanked by four towers and a drawbridge. Two wings of the building date from the 16th and 17th centuries. The 12th-century church of Saint-Brice was remodeled in the 19th century and features a double-arched doorway. The bell tower and portal are Romanesque, but the barrel vault and side aisles are Burgundian in inspiration.
