The history of the village goes back to the Bauffremont family. And if the name of the village is written today with only one "f", the castle has kept the two original ones. From the castle (dating from the 11th century), the view is interesting. A tumulus located at the top of the hill of Saint-Charles testifies to a Paleolithic and Roman presence. During the Revolution, the castle was sold and destroyed. Beaufremont is elevated to the rank of chief town of the canton, a status that the village will lose in 1801. To be noted in its heritage, the churches of Saint-Pierre and Saint-Paul partly from the 15th and 16th centuries. Not to be missed: the superb roadside cross (15th century) classified.
