You are certainly in one of the most beautiful cities in the region. Twice a thousand years old and located close to the Vosges, Burgundy, Alsace and Champagne, Luxeuil-les-Bains legitimately attracts many visitors. The name of the commune already says a lot about the nature of the town. City of water since antiquity, the Gauls and then the Romans established thermal baths, the town has been able to highlight its monuments and assets. One appreciates the elegant alternation between modernity and old stones, medieval houses, mansions and thermal villas from the end of the last century. At the very end of the 6th century, the monk Saint Colomban definitively brought the town into the religious and political history of the country with the foundation of a monastery which would extend its influence to all Christendom. In the Middle Ages, the prosperity of Luxembourg merchants encouraged the erection of very beautiful buildings. Finally, it was in the 19th century, under the Second Empire, that the town revived its thermal tradition. The Emperor Napoleon III, a fan of thermalism, frequented the place, dragging in his wake the rich fortunes, always sensitive to the charms and sweetness of these water cities. On a more gastronomic level, the town is also known throughout the country for its pork butcher's speciality: cured ham, as famous in Franche-Comté as Bayonne in Aquitaine. In addition, Luxeuil's lace has long since crossed its borders. The lace conservatory has some fine examples of this.
