Located in the Saulnois region near the town of Dieuze, the village is bordered by the north-western shore of the Etang du Lindre and the Saint-Jean national forest. The village borders a chain of ponds covering 618 hectares, where dozens of species of migratory birds nest. The site serves as an ornithological observatory. The commune is part of the Parc Naturel Régional de Lorraine and the Pays des Etangs de la Znieff. Located 1 hour's drive from Nancy or Metz via Château-Salins and Dieuze, the Lindre pond is mainly visible from the village of Lindre-Basse. Every year, one or two ponds are left to dry up.
