Holving is a commune that has been occupied since at least the Roman era. In 1842, a triangular limestone stone was found, on one of its pediments recording: IN HDD WD APPOLINI (in honorem domus divinae deo Appolini). A temple dedicated to the cult of Apollo dominated the region in the past. Today, many tourists come to relax on the 52 ha of water from Hirbach pond. It was part of the Aquatic Maginot line in the previous century.
