Fresnes-au-Mont is a hamlet (less than 200 inhabitants) located about 27 km north-west of Commercy and less than 10 minutes from Saint-Mihiel (Côtes de Meuse). It is the headquarters of the Vent des forêts association, a contemporary art centre of national interest, created by six surrounding communes, including Fresnes. This extraordinary initiative, unique in its kind, promotes the relationship that the rural world and art can weave. The principle is to invite artists to create works of art in direct contact with nature. The artists enjoy exceptional creative conditions as they are housed with local people and accompanied by more than 80 professionals
