During the First World War, the village of Cheppy was at the heart of the fighting. Several memorial sites pay tribute to the brave soldiers: the German cemetery and the Missouri monument dedicated to the American volunteers of that state, including the future General Patton, who was wounded near the place where the monument is erected.
