In the vicinity of Pont-à-Mousson (about 7 km), the hill of Mousson (also called hill of Mousson) is a semi-natural mound which was used as a stronghold in Roman times. It is a green place where life is good. Ideal for your family outings or for all those who wish to breathe a bowl of nature! Notice to hiking enthusiasts, from the top of the hill you can see all the surrounding plains with an unobstructed view of the Moselle valley (Metz and Saulnois region). As for heritage, history lovers will not be disappointed because here remain the ruins of the old feudal castle of the counts and dukes of Bar. Romantic as one could wish, one can discover some parts of the walls of the old keep also called the Big Tower. At the top of the hillock is a religious building of radically opposite style. It is the Chapel of Light, built in glass and iron on the site of the old castle chapel razed during the bombings of World War II in 1944. Guided tours for groups (by reservation only) are organized by the association of Friends of Old Monsoon. For any information, the teams of the tourist office or the town hall of Pont-à-Mousson are always available to visitors. In addition to the Chapelle de Lumière, Mousson also has many other religious buildings that are worth a visit, such as the Church of the Assumption, rebuilt after 1944 to replace the original Romanesque church.
