Wines and spirits Sauternes

Château Filhot is a wine estate located in the commune of Sauternes. It is classified as a second growth in the official Bordeaux wine classification of 1855. The estate covers 350 hectares, including 62 hectares of vineyards. Château Filhot is renowned not only for its wine, but also for its vast English-style park created by landscape gardener Louis-Bernard Fischer in 1845. Tours can accommodate up to 35 people and are available in French and English. Appointments can also be made for weekend visits.

The property has abandoned conventional viticulture to turn to bioviticulture since 1996, under the impetus of Xavier Planty. Thus, the estate has been awarded several times by the Best Of Wine Tourism contest in the categories of "Wine tourism promotion of environmental practices", but also in "Event organization" and "Catering at the estate". For more than 30 years, the public has been welcomed to the property via the ancient Gallo-Roman road; a majestic alley bordered by 181 plane trees.
