The village, nestled at the foot of Mont-Lozere, owes its development to the presence of the Chemin road, hyphen between Auvergne and the Languedoc and important Commercial axis. With a large tourist infrastructure, the city benefits from the presence of the lake where you can bathe and practise different water sports. The city itself retains a certain character thanks to a few old houses, mainly located in the Church Street and rue de la Bourg following the old road of Régordane. Signs of the city's merchant past, the two main doorways in circle arches, which were housed in shops and stalls, are characteristic. An elegant th-century hotel with a beautiful propeller staircase is home to the town hall. You can also see the Saint John bridge, which crosses the Altier and allows you to win the Romanesque chapel of the same name, converted into a dwelling house. Two kilometres north of Villefort, Saint-Loup Chapel, built in honour of a hermit, has been a pilgrimage centre for centuries. Barely further, the village of Vielvic retains a beautiful set of th century houses.
