AU PÉTRIN MOISSAGAIS
A real postcard bakery, with baskets full of loaves, old-fashioned décor and a majestic 15th-century wood-fired oven... Serge Combarieu overplays his role as a model artisan, beret on his head and wifebeater de rigueur. But the real star of the show is the Gascon bread, a traditional country loaf made with sourdough and a thick crust, which keeps impeccably for almost a week. There are also a number of sweet treats for afternoon tea - chocolatines, apple croustades and croissants - and for weekends, a brioche flavored with rum and citrus fruit.
