Béarn baker Nicolas Gruel, European and French Boulanger champion in 2019, and Corsican pastry chef Jean-Philippe Battesti, a former Ducasse employee, have been awarded the title of runner-up for the best bakery in France in 2023, and the best chocolatine in Gironde in 2024. Their credo: homemade from A to Z. At Grain, every loaf of bread and viennoiserie is shaped by hand, following the seasons to use only fresh, sourced produce. Specialties include chestnut and mandarin bread and pistachio and orange blossom tart.
