Bourmont is a very interesting village, and again, rich in a tormented past. The municipality does a lot to highlight its heritage, its website proves it. Bourmont is a friendly place in the middle of the Bassigny region, known for its dairy elevation and the production of the famous Caprice des Gods. In height, the village offers beautiful views, it is also beautiful "inside" because it is full of points of interest. Bourmont is a historic city: he became the leader of Bassigny thanks to a bust in the xivth century. A position that will give it some importance. Fortifications, important commercial activity, religious buildings etc. In the xviiie, at the death of the last duke of Lorraine, Stanislas, it is attached to France. Bourmont also experienced a sad celebrity during the Second World War, due to the Battle of Bourmont (from June 18-20, 1940) where Senegalese shoots resisted German assaults. A visit of the village also allows to discover beautiful Renaissance houses of the sixteenth, seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, to make the promenade du Conã, a stroll of trees planted around 1760, to admire the two churches, Saint Joseph and Notre Dame, the ancient convent of the Annonciades, the college of Trinitarian, Garden of Rocks, etc. So much wealth for such a small city! Bourmont deserves its label of «Little City of Character» with its enclosure. Guided tours are possible.Information: www.bourmont.fr or Tel 03 25 01 04 32 (Mr. David).
