Excavations have revealed an important Gallo-Roman site that is visiting from June 1 to September 16, and at Heritage Days: the ruins of a villa (remnants of thermal baths and a boiler responsible for feeding them), and a merovingian necropolis (114 tombs). Another Gallo-Roman site (mausoleum) is located in Faverolles near Rolampont. As far as the Ouen site is concerned, it starts in 1832, when an mérovingien sarcophagus is updated and buildings are preserved. Abbot Mulier, the father of Ouen, decides to continue the excavations. The foundations of a temple are discovered, the research work continues, the Site site reveals a large Gallo-Roman villa, and is classified in Historical monuments in 1986. The extent of the place and its good conservation make it a part to visit. Open from a. m. to p. m. and from 14 p. m. to 18 p. m., the villa can be explained to you during guided tours, organised on weekends. You can find out about the site: www.haute-marne.fr. One of the peculiarities of Mount Mercure, with which the site is located, overlooking the region at 443 m above sea level, is to be located on the exact line of water sharing. Some of its streams descend to the Marne and the Channel, others to the Meuse and the North Sea, and others still join the Saône and the Mediterranean.
