Ville-sur-Arce is the birthplace of Jean-Baptiste-Louis Le Lieur, Napoleon Bonaparte's classmate at the Brienne-le-Château military school. A famous horticulturist, he was appointed by the Emperor as General Intendant of State Parks and Nurseries. Ville-sur-Arce is still a very green commune, which also makes its living from its vineyards. Sixty growers share 224 hectares of vines. The grape varieties are mainly pinot-noir, chardonnay and meunier. Visits and tastings can be organized. While in Ville-sur-Arce, you can also visit the modest 16th-century church of Saint-Aubin.
